The Kingdom of Fife
Come and explore
Whether it's your first visit or you're a regular, Fife has so much to see and do.
The Fife Coastal Path
Just a minute from our front door, this stretches 117 miles from Kincardine to Newburgh and is recognised as one of Scotland's Great Trails. These is so much to see and do, both on the Path and just off it; we're always finding new bits to explore.
Although known for St. Andrews the "Home of Golf", there are over 44 golf courses in Fife. Kinghorn's own course was designed by Tom Morris in 1887, and the nearby Burntisland golf course is officially the 10th oldest club in the world.
Whether it's sailing, kayaking, wild swimming, coastal rowing, paddle-boarding or even waterskiing, you'll find it happening in Fife.
If looking around grand houses, castles or quaint villages is more your thing, Fife has plenty of that too. From Falkland Palace, to Aberdour and Kellie Castles. Take a boat ride out to Loch Leven Castle or Inchcolm Abbey. Explore the streets of Culross, now perhaps just as famous as a filming location for Outlander.
If you're lucky you may see dolphins, porpoises or even whales out in the Forth. You will definitely see seals basking and the occasional heron. RSPB Loch Leven is a great day out, with a vast nature reserve just a few miles away. Or stay closer to home, with kingfishers, great crested greebs and coots all regularly spotted on Kinghorn Loch.
Other Places in Fife
We thoroughly recommend taking a trip to the East Neuk; the pretty fishing villages and excellent Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther are well worth a visit. And no trip to Fife is complete without a visit to St. Andrews, with its history and golfing heritage.
Although there is so much to do in Fife, we're located in a very convenient spot for adventures further away, such as day trips to see the famous castle and old town in Edinburgh (leave the car; it's less than an hour away by train), the historic towns of Perth and Stirling, the Kelpies and Wheel at Falkirk, the V&A at Dundee or even make the journey through to Glasgow.
